Choosing a knitwear factory is four decisions, not one: which construction you want, which yarn supports it, how many pieces you can commit to per colour, and how long you can wait. This page answers those four with figures we publish rather than adjectives. Licheng Knitwear runs OEM, ODM and private label knitwear from Dongguan, China. Minimum order is 30 pieces per colour and style, with sizes mixable inside the 30. Samples run 15 to 25 days from a confirmed tech pack and yarn; bulk runs 30 to 45 days. If those three numbers do not fit your project, the rest of this page will not change that, and it is better that you know now.
Our yarn and material support capability helps buyers choosing yarn compositions for cost, handfeel, season, durability and target retail positioning. The work focuses on practical B2B development decisions rather than retail-style visuals, connecting product direction, material choices, sample review, production feasibility and export-ready quality control. Buyers can use this page to understand what information should be prepared, which technical decisions affect cost and lead time, and how Licheng Knitwear turns an initial sourcing request into a sample-ready or production-ready plan.
Our knit gauge options capability helps buyers deciding between chunky texture, mid-weight commercial sweaters and fine-gauge premium knitwear. Hand-finished colour blocks, jacquard panels, embroidery, appliqué, woven labels and hangtag support for branded knitwear. Our branding capability helps buyers adding subtle brand details, woven labels, hangtags and decorative finishing — for private-label and own-brand programs where the buyer cares about the small details that telegraph quality.
Our knitwear quality control capability helps buyers reducing measurement variance, pilling risk, color difference, trim problems and final packing issues.

Our color matching capability helps buyers locking Pantone shades through a structured lab-dip approval process so the shade signed off on sample becomes the shade that lands in bulk. We work with Pantone Solid Coated (TCX on request), run a standard three-round lab-dip cycle, and target deltaE under 1.5 against the approved standard under D65 lighting. For custom-dyed programs we hold the approved yarn lot through bulk; for stock-yarn programs we confirm the chosen colour on a yarn-knit blanket before knitting starts. Color drift between sample and bulk is the single most common buyer complaint in knitwear sourcing this workflow is built to remove it.
Our linking and knit construction capability helps buyers choosing between full-fashion linking, cup-seam linking and cut-and-sew finishing each driving a different price point, hand-feel and shoulder line. Full-fashion linking on Shima Seiki and hand-linking stations gives the cleanest seam and best drape for premium programs; cup-seam linking balances cost and cleanliness for mid-tier; cut-and-sew is the workhorse for high-volume basics and chunky styles. On the stitch side we knit plain jersey, 1x1 and 2x2 rib, half-cardigan (half-brioche / fisherman rib) and full-cardigan rib, cable, pointelle and open-work, jacquard and intarsia, and we develop deliberately loose-tension, open and relaxed handles at 7GG for oversized silhouettes. We help match the construction method to your target retail price, gauge and quantity, so the sweater feels right in hand and the unit cost lands where the program needs it.
Our reorder program helps repeat buyers skipping sampling on proven styles and shipping reorders in roughly 30 days instead of the full 45-day cycle. After a first bulk order ships, we hold the approved yarn for 90 days under your account, lock unit pricing against the original purchase order, and keep the approved tech pack and graded patterns ready to re-issue. Reorders bypass the lab-dip and sample-revision stages entirely and move straight into bulk knitting, which is where most of the time saving lives. The program is built for retail buyers running tight in-store windows and DTC brands rebuilding stock between launches.
We knit zip-front cardigans, knit jackets, half-zips and quarter-zips for brands, from 30 pieces per colour with sizes mixed inside the 30. Across the 86 zip styles we publish, 7GG (66 styles) and 12GG (50) are the main gauges, wool is used in 64 and cotton in 39, and the entry price per style has a median of USD 17.36, from USD 12.97 to USD 66.05. Samples take 15-25 days and bulk 30-45 days after sample approval.
Custom buttons, zippers, drawcords, patches and tipping sourced and applied to your spec — the fiddly hardware requests other factories decline, we quote and make.
Garment washing, brushing, anti-pill, hand-feel softening, printing and hand-linking — the finishing and craft steps that change how a knit looks, feels and lasts.
A blank is a finished garment with no logo, no graphic and no jacquard on it — a body you put your own label into. Of the 410 styles published on this site, 278 are undecorated and can be produced as blanks, including 108 zip-through and cardigan bodies, across 14 product categories and a 3GG–18GG in-house gauge range. This page is for buyers who already know what they want to make: a designer working from a sketch, a brand replacing a discontinued body, a club or label producing its own run. What you need from a factory in that position is not styling — it is a clean garment, in your colour, with your label in it, at a quantity that makes sense. One thing worth saying plainly, because it is the most common misreading of our catalogue: the colour you see in a product photo is the sample colourway, not the range. Every published style is made to order, and colour is a specification you give us, not a shelf we pick from. If a body works for you in grey, you can have it in black.
Knitwear for a club, a school, a team or a company is a different order from a fashion programme, and the difference is the date. A homecoming, a season opener, a centenary, an annual dinner - the day is fixed long before anyone chooses a garment, and the only question that really decides the order is whether the pieces arrive before it. Of our 410 published styles, 278 carry no applied decoration and can take your crest instead. MOQ is 30 pieces per colour. Tell us the date you need them in hand and we plan backwards from it rather than forwards from the order.
Oversized knitwear is not a bigger sweater - it is a different set of decisions about gauge, stitch tension, yarn character and where the shoulder sits. We develop relaxed and oversized silhouettes with deliberately opened stitch density, most often at 7GG, in yarns chosen for a soft, hairy, lightweight handle: wool/alpaca blends, mohair blends and brushed lambswool. Half-cardigan (half-brioche / fisherman rib), full-cardigan rib, cable, pointelle and open-work, jacquard and intarsia are all knitted in house across 3GG-18GG. Minimum order stays 30 pieces per colour with sizes mixed inside that 30, so a first collection or a capsule drop is workable.
Licheng Knitwear produces custom knitwear from a minimum of 30 pieces per colour per style, and sizes may be mixed inside those 30 - so a first collection can launch with a full size run rather than thirty identical mediums. That single rule is what most small brands are actually asking about when they contact a knitwear factory, and it is the same across all 462 published styles in our catalogue. This page sets out what a brand gets at that quantity and what it does not: the same 3GG to 18GG machines, the same OEKO-TEX Standard 100, ISO 9001, GRS and GOTS certified production, and the same 15 to 25 day sampling as an eight-thousand-piece programme. It is written for founders placing a first production order, small labels testing one style before committing, and established brands adding a capsule outside their main range.
Most of what we make starts as your tech pack. These 51 styles started as ours. They are ready samples - knitted, photographed and costed already - so a physical sample can usually be with you in about seven days rather than the fifteen to twenty-five a new development needs from a confirmed tech pack and yarn. The minimum does not change: 30 pieces per colour per style, sizes mixable inside the 30. Neither does the customisation: colour, yarn, gauge, labelling and packaging are all still open, because a ready sample is a starting point rather than a take-it-or-leave-it. What it removes is the slowest part of a first order, which is the round trip between a drawing and the first thing you can hold.
We partner with your team to turn ideas into best-selling knitwear. From concept and sampling to bulk production and delivery, our experts guide every step.

Common questions about knitwear manufacturing capabilities.
We focus on men's sweaters, cardigans, knit jackets, jacquard knitwear and private label knitwear. We support B2B buyers with OEM/ODM development, sampling and bulk production planning.
Ready sample styles and selected custom programs can support lower-risk trials before larger seasonal orders.
Yes. Brands, including new labels preparing a first collection, can pay for a sample and see it before placing a production order. Two routes: a ready sample of a published style at USD 60 per piece in about 7 days, or a development sample from your tech pack at USD 150 per style, covering yarn sourcing, knit programming, one prototype and one revision round, in 15-25 days. Cashmere and mohair styles are quoted individually and shipping is charged at cost. Production starts only after you approve the physical sample, at our minimum of 30 pieces per colour with sizes mixed inside the 30. A sample does not commit you to a production run; we do not make garments for personal use.
Our sample fee is not refundable. Yarn sourcing, knit programming, machine setup and hand linking cost about the same whether one piece follows or five hundred, which is why the fee exists at all. It is credited against your first bulk order placed within six months of sample approval: 100% of a development sample fee, 50% of a ready sample fee.
Yes, for brands developing a style. One development piece is fine, with no commitment to bulk: a development sample is USD 150 per style and covers yarn sourcing, knit programming, one prototype and one revision round, in 15-25 days (cashmere and mohair are quoted individually). If you then go to production, the minimum is 30 pieces per colour with sizes mixed inside the 30, and the full USD 150 is credited against a first bulk order placed within six months of approving the sample. We do not make garments for personal wear.
Our published MOQ is 30 pieces per colour, and that number comes from the dye lot rather than from machine time: yarn is dyed in batches, and roughly 30 garments' worth of yarn is the smallest batch that keeps both cost and shade under control. Because the floor sits on the dyed yarn rather than on the style, styles that share one yarn in one colour are counted together against it. Four styles at 25 pieces each, all in the same yarn and the same colour, is 100 pieces on a single dye lot and is accepted. What does not combine is a second colour or a second yarn - each is its own dye lot with its own floor. So the first question to settle is not how many styles you have, it is how many yarn-and-colour combinations they add up to.
