Select weight and warmth for your target season.

Our yarn and material support capability helps buyers choosing yarn compositions for cost, handfeel, season, durability and target retail positioning. The work focuses on practical B2B development decisions rather than retail-style visuals, connecting product direction, material choices, sample review, production feasibility and export-ready quality control. Buyers can use this page to understand what information should be prepared, which technical decisions affect cost and lead time, and how Licheng Knitwear turns an initial sourcing request into a sample-ready or production-ready plan.

Technical review covers cotton blends, wool blends, acrylic blends, cashmere blends, recycled yarn direction, pilling risk, handfeel, color planning and gauge compatibility. The goal is to make each development route clear before sampling: what the buyer should provide, what the factory needs to confirm, which risks may affect cost or lead time, and which details should be checked again before bulk production. In a normal project review, the team checks the buyer's reference photo, tech pack, target quantity, expected price level, yarn direction, gauge preference, trim requirements, label plan and target market. If information is missing, the page should guide the buyer toward practical next steps instead of forcing a retail-style product decision too early. This helps reduce unclear quotation requests, sample revisions caused by missing specifications, and production delays caused by late packaging or QC requirements. Fibre families we knit, read from the composition of published styles rather than from a wish list: wool is the backbone at 263 styles and cotton at 222, with acrylic (39) and acrylic-wool blends carrying the volume-programme price points. Cashmere and cashmere blends run to 38 styles and merino to 33 - merino for next-to-skin softness and even colour take-up, cashmere where the retail price supports it. For a soft halo, mohair blends (16 styles) give the longest, most visible halo, wool-alpaca blends a softer one with less prickle, and brushed lambswool the most economical version of the same look. Alpaca, linen, bamboo viscose, viscose and modal are each published in small numbers and suit lighter, drapier spring-summer directions. Silk appears as a blend rather than on its own: published styles include cashmere-silk and cotton-silk, and one at 70% cotton / 20% nylon / 10% silk - silk adds lustre and a cool, fluid hand, and it is the fibre most often asked for on fine-gauge dress and top directions. Recycled and recycled-blend yarns are published on 15 styles. Fibre choice moves four things at once - handfeel, price, minimum yarn purchase and pilling behaviour - so we confirm the yarn on a knitted swatch before the graded sample rather than settling it from a specification sheet. Pilling expectations are agreed to ISO 12945-2 up front on volume programmes. MOQ stays 30 pieces per colour per style whichever fibre is chosen, with sizes mixable inside the 30.
This capability is suitable for crew neck sweaters, cardigans, knitted polos, knit jackets, jacquard programs and seasonal layering products. It is especially useful when buyers need consistent product specifications, repeatable sample feedback, private label presentation or a sourcing plan that can move from idea to production without unnecessary rework. Buyers working on multi-style programs can use the same capability framework across sweater, cardigan and knit jacket developments so that yarn, gauge, workmanship, packaging and inspection expectations remain consistent across the collection.
Recommended for European menswear, North American casualwear, Nordic winter layering, German practical apparel and UK heritage cardigan programs. The emphasis is on sourcing confidence, clear communication, realistic product development and material decisions that match buyer positioning instead of generic fashion imagery. For North American buyers, the focus is usually practical development, commercial styling and clear RFQ information. For European, German and UK buyers, the focus often includes material handfeel, restrained styling, quality consistency and careful documentation. For Nordic and Canadian buyers, the capability is frequently connected with cold-weather layering, heavier gauges and wool-blend directions.
Material selection should be confirmed together with gauge, garment weight, color count, MOQ and care requirements. For new buyers, a small yarn and swatch review helps avoid choosing a material that looks premium but does not match cost, season or bulk production risk.
