The single biggest variable is yarn. A stock yarn color can be ready in a day; a custom-dyed lot can take one to three weeks on its own.

Rarely is the first sample perfect — and that is healthy. Expect:

• Proto / 1st sample — confirms overall look, structure and handfeel
• Fit / size set — confirms measurements and grading across sizes
• Pre-production (PP) sample — the approved standard bulk is matched against

Each round adds roughly a week including shipping. Building two to three rounds into your calendar prevents a last-minute scramble.

• Reuse an existing style as a starting point where possible.

Work back from your in-store date: add bulk production (typically 30–45 days), then sampling (2–3 rounds), then yarn lead time.
