Climate & Season
Select weight and warmth for your target season.

Knitwear for a club, a school, a team or a company is a different order from a fashion programme, and the difference is the date. A homecoming, a season opener, a centenary, an annual dinner - the day is fixed long before anyone chooses a garment, and the only question that really decides the order is whether the pieces arrive before it. Of our 410 published styles, 278 carry no applied decoration and can take your crest instead. MOQ is 30 pieces per colour. Tell us the date you need them in hand and we plan backwards from it rather than forwards from the order.

Working backwards from the date. Development samples run about 15-25 days from a confirmed tech pack and yarn, and bulk 30-45 days depending on quantity and complexity. Add freight and the honest planning figure from first enquiry to garments in hand is about two to three months. For a November event that means opening the conversation in August or September, not in October. If your date is tighter than that, say so in the first message - rush handling is available and quoted per job, and knowing early is what makes it possible at all. What we will not do is accept a date we cannot meet and tell you later.
Bodies a crest sits well on. Of the 410 published styles, 278 carry no applied decoration — no jacquard, intarsia, Fair Isle, argyle, embroidery, print, stripe or logo in the product name or knit-structure field — and are usable as a base for your own crest. Three shapes come up most in this kind of programme and each for a practical reason. A sleeveless vest (8 published) has a flat front panel and no sleeve length to grade across a mixed group, which is why it survives being ordered for fifty people of unknown measurements. A knit polo (23 published) reads smart enough for a presentation evening and casual enough for a clubhouse. A zip-through or cardigan body (66 and 67 published) gives the largest uninterrupted area for a chest crest and is the easiest to put on and take off through an event day.
Your crest, your colours. At 30 pieces per colour, club or school colours are matched from our stock yarn colours - send a Pantone TCX code, a physical swatch or an existing garment and we propose the closest. An exact colour dyed to order is available from 30 pieces, with a lab dip approved before bulk, for a small-lot dyeing surcharge and 7-15 extra days; at the mill's full dye lot of 100-300 pieces per colour the surcharge falls away. Where two colours have to match each other rather than a reference - a body colour against a trim, say - tell us which one is the anchor.
Artwork. For an embroidered crest, vector artwork is best (AI, EPS or a PDF with live paths). A clean high-resolution image also works and is what most first enquiries actually arrive with; we will tell you before sampling if a detail will not hold at the size you want. Fine text, thin outlines and gradients are the three things that lose definition on knitwear, because the stitch is the resolution limit - we would rather redraw a crest slightly than deliver one that reads as a blur at chest size. Embroidery, woven labels, hangtags and packaging are all covered under Embroidery and Branding and Private Label Knitwear Support.
Quantity. MOQ is 30 pieces per colour. A single body in one colour for a group of forty is one order of forty. The same body in two colours is two lots of thirty, not two lots of twenty - the minimum is per colour because the cost sits in the knitting set-up and the yarn dye, not in the piece count.
If the garment you want is not in the range. Most programmes in this segment start from a reference: a garment someone already owns, a photo, a sketch from a member. That is enough to open a development. Starting from a published body that is already close is faster and cheaper, because the knitting programme exists - but it is not a requirement.
Schools and universities: homecoming, graduating-year and alumni pieces, staff knitwear, department gifts. Clubs and member organisations: anniversary and commemorative runs, committee knitwear, member merchandise. Sports and social teams: travel and presentation knitwear rather than playing kit - vests, polos and zip-through layers worn to and from fixtures. Companies: staff uniform knitwear, client gifts, event and conference pieces, anniversary runs. The common thread is a fixed group, a fixed date and a mark that has to be reproduced exactly rather than designed from scratch.
Most enquiries of this kind reach us from the United States, the United Kingdom and Western Europe, where the school, club and corporate gifting calendars are established and the dates are known a year ahead. Weight expectations differ by market and it is worth saying which you are in: North American programmes more often want a mid-weight body that works indoors, Nordic and Canadian ones a heavier gauge, UK and European ones a finer handle. All three are within the 3GG-18GG range we knit in house.
Two things worth knowing before you commit to a date. Sampling and bulk timelines assume the tech pack and yarn are confirmed - the clock starts when the specification is settled, not when the first email arrives, and artwork that needs redrawing is the most common reason a dated programme loses a week early on. And every piece is made to order; there is no warehouse of plain garments to decorate next week, which is exactly what makes colour, gauge, fit and crest specifiable in the first place. Certification coverage (OEKO-TEX Standard 100, ISO 9001, GRS, GOTS) should be confirmed against the specific fibre and order before it is quoted to a school, university or corporate procurement team.

Yes, and we would rather answer that before anything else. Sampling runs about 15-25 days from a confirmed tech pack and yarn, bulk 30-45 days, plus freight - so the honest planning figure from first enquiry to garments in hand is two to three months. Send us the date in your first message and we will tell you straight away whether it is comfortable, tight, or only possible as a rush job. Rush handling is available and quoted per job.

Our minimum is 30 pieces per colour and we hold to it - the cost sits in the knitting set-up, the yarn lot and the sample rather than in the piece count, so a shorter run does not cost proportionally less to produce. For a group of 25 the practical answer is usually to order 30 and keep the spares, which most programmes find useful for late joiners and replacements.
Yes, and the arithmetic is worth knowing early: the minimum is per colour, so two colours of one body is 30 plus 30, not 30 split between them. If the total group is smaller than that, a single colour with the two groups distinguished by the crest or by a trim detail is usually the better route and we can show you both at sampling.
Usually. Most programmes of this kind start from something that already exists - a garment a member owns, a photo, a sketch. That is enough to open a development. Where one of our published bodies is already close, starting there is faster and cheaper because the knitting programme exists, but it is not a requirement.
