We knit zip-front cardigans, knit jackets, half-zips and quarter-zips for brands, from 30 pieces per colour with sizes mixed inside the 30. Across the 86 zip styles we publish, 7GG (66 styles) and 12GG (50) are the main gauges, wool is used in 64 and cotton in 39, and the entry price per style has a median of USD 17.36, from USD 12.97 to USD 66.05. Samples take 15-25 days and bulk 30-45 days after sample approval.

Technische details

Zip pieces are one of the most common requests we receive. In September 2026 roughly one in five enquiries asked for a zip-front style - full-zip cardigans, knit jackets, half-zips and quarter-zips - and buyers often specify the zip itself: metal or matte, two-way, or a branded puller.

The placket decides whether a zip piece looks right. A knitted front stretches and a zip does not; if the two are joined badly, the front ripples after the first wash. We tape and stabilise the placket before setting the zip, and check it again after a wash test on the pre-production sample.

Zip weight has to match the gauge. Chunky 5GG fronts carry a heavier metal zip; fine 12GG fronts need a lighter zip, or the front drags and the placket bows.

Zip choice: metal, nylon coil or moulded teeth, one-way or two-way, with a standard or branded puller. We can source the zips for you, or fit zips you supply. Lining: we make fully lined and partly lined knit jackets - a knitted shell with a separately sewn-in lining, for example polyester fleece on a plain-knit zip jacket, or a lining behind a two-colour Nordic jacquard zip cardigan. Lining fibre, weight and coverage are agreed with you, and shell/lining shrinkage is checked on the physical sample. Say so at the brief stage, because lining changes the pattern and the price.

Matching trousers: a zip jacket can be developed with matching knit trousers or joggers in the same yarn and colour as a two-piece set. Each garment has its own size chart and is quoted separately, so tell us the quantity of jackets and of trousers.

Full-zip cardigans and knit jackets - the outer layer that replaces a light jacket - are the largest group, 42 of our published zip styles. Half-zips and quarter-zips, the pullover with a zip neck used in golf and smart-casual ranges, account for 17. Two-way (double) zips, for heavier jackets that need to open from the hem, appear on 5 styles, 11 styles are hooded, and 11 winter styles carry a faux-fur or shearling-style collar.

By category the range is 29 men's cardigans, 20 men's knit jackets, 16 men's sweaters and 6 women's knit jackets, plus polos, vests, maternity and kids pieces. 71 of the 86 are menswear.

Zip pieces sell in both seasons, so the build depends on where the range sells. Cold-weather ranges for the Nordics, Canada and the UK usually go to 5GG or 7GG wool with a heavier metal zip, and that is where the faux-fur and shearling-style collars sit.

Golf, resort and spring-summer ranges go to 12GG cotton or cotton-linen half-zips and quarter-zips with a lighter coil zip. The lowest-priced style in our zip range is a cotton-linen quarter-zip polo at USD 12.97.

Yarn drives the price more than the zip does. Cotton and cotton-linen half-zips sit at the bottom of the range; wool-cashmere zip polos and knit bomber jackets with woven sleeves sit at the top (USD 59.97-66.05). The median entry price across the 84 zip styles with a listed price is USD 17.36.
